Not a discount. A route.

Camps do have honeymoon rates, and we will get you every one you qualify for. But the reason a Tanzanian honeymoon works is the shape of it — quiet camps first, one extraordinary night on the crater rim, then a stretch of coast where nobody asks you to be anywhere.

01

Why this one costs less.

Every offer on this site has to survive being drawn as a chain. If it cannot, it is not an offer — it is a discount off a price somebody inflated first.

You tell us it is a honeymoon

At the point of enquiry, not after

Camp honeymoon rates are applied at booking. Mentioning it when you arrive is too late, and it is the single most common way couples miss them.

We ask every camp on the route

Because the terms differ at each

Some give a free night, some a room upgrade, some a private dinner, some nothing at all. There is no single industry rule, so it has to be asked property by property.

The route does the rest

Quiet first, then the coast

The saving is real but modest. What actually makes a honeymoon is putting the busy things early and the empty things late, so the trip decelerates instead of ending on a rush.

02

Three legs, in this order.

The order matters more than any single choice inside it. You want the trip to slow down, not speed up.

Nights 1–5

Quiet bush first

The southern or western parks, or a private concession off the northern circuit. Small camps, few vehicles, and the part of the trip where you are still full of energy and want to be out at six in the morning. Doing this leg first also means the long drives and early starts are behind you before you are tired of them.

Ask for a camp with fewer than ten tents
Nights 6–7

One night that is not like the others

The Ngorongoro rim. It is the one place in Tanzania where the view from bed is the event, and it is worth spending disproportionately on for a single night rather than a little more everywhere. Go down into the crater once, early, and do not go twice.

This is the night to overspend on
Nights 8–14

Then stop moving

Pemba if you want almost nobody, Zanzibar if you want somewhere to walk to, Mafia if you want the water more than the beach. A week is not too long. The mistake couples make is three nights here, and then flying home more tired than they arrived.

Seven nights, one hotel
What the camps actually ask for

A copy of the marriage certificate, and a time limit. Most camps apply honeymoon rates within six to twelve months of the wedding date and will ask for the certificate at booking or check-in. If you married two years ago the rates generally do not apply, and no amount of asking changes it.

It is the camps’ offer, not ours, and it is not universal. Some of the best small camps offer nothing at all, because they are full regardless. We will not steer you towards a worse camp because it has a honeymoon rate — the route comes first and the rate is a bonus where it exists.

03

Is it for you?

We would rather lose the booking than sell you the wrong offer, because the wrong offer usually means the wrong trip.

Yes, if
  • You are within a year of the wedding and can produce the certificate.
  • You have ten nights or more. Under that and the coast leg gets squeezed into something unrestful.
  • You would rather have one extraordinary night than four merely good ones.
  • Neither of you has been on safari, so the early mornings still feel like an adventure rather than a duty.
Probably not, if
  • You have a week. Do the bush or the coast properly rather than both badly.
  • You want to be somewhere different every two nights. That is a good holiday and a poor honeymoon.
  • You are booking two years after the wedding — still do the trip, just not expecting honeymoon rates.
  • A dawn game drive on your holiday sounds like an imposition to one of you. Say so now, not in the vehicle.
04

How to take it.

Tell us the wedding date when you enquire

It determines which camps will apply a rate and which will not, and it changes what we propose.

We build the route first and ask for rates second

You will get an itinerary chosen for the trip, with the honeymoon terms shown camp by camp where they exist.

Send the certificate once, to us

We pass it to the properties that need it so you are not producing paperwork at three separate check-ins.

05

Questions we get asked.

Do we get an upgrade?

Sometimes, and it is entirely at the property’s discretion on the day. Anyone promising you a guaranteed upgrade in advance is promising something they do not control. What we can do is make sure every camp knows, which is what actually makes upgrades happen.

Is it cheaper to book the safari and beach separately?

Almost never, once flights between them are counted. The internal flight from the parks to the coast is the expensive link, and it is much easier to price sensibly as one routing.

Bush first or beach first?

Bush first, in our view, every time. You arrive with energy for the early starts, and you finish somewhere you do not have to set an alarm. Couples who do it the other way round consistently say they wished they had not.

Can we do Kilimanjaro as part of it?

You can, and some couples love it. Be clear with each other first: it is eight hard days, you will be cold and unwashed, and it is not romantic in any conventional sense. If you both want it, it is a magnificent way to start a marriage. If only one of you does, do not.

Tell us the wedding date.

That one fact determines which camps can offer what, and it changes the route we propose. Send it with roughly when you want to travel and we will build the shape around it.
