Day Trip

On the first day of the safari, the guests will leave from Arusha. The trip will begin by meeting the safari guide, along with a cook. The cook will be traveling with the group for the next six days. The group will spend the next 2.5 hours driving to the Tarangire National Park, after which they will be set for a full day of game drives. The drives will be to notice the beautiful Tarangire River along with the many giant baobab trees. Herons, giraffes, zebras, elephants, and even lions are often seen around. The chef will provide chains of sandwiches along with other eatables at lunchtime. After some time, you will be set to return to the Karatu area for a light dinner and healthy portions after a long day. You will blissfully sleep through the night.

Accommodation: Public Campsite in the Karatu / Mto wa Mbu area.

Those who enjoy breakfast will have an easier time during the morning drive, as well as those who are having a picnic lunch. The drive to the Serengeti National Park along the Great Rift Valley is said to be a scenic masterpiece. There are hills and endless views that are well worth the long drive, as well as lunch at the park while taking in the open views. The drive at lunch takes us to the Naabi Gate. The park itself is huge and during the lunch drive, you will glance down at the plains, then spend the entire lunch hour on the plains, taking in the open park views around you. The afternoon is dedicated to a quintessential drive game. Everyone will enjoy the time spent in the central Seronera. This area of the afternoon is known in the entire world as “the capital of big cats.” As you time the arrival at the sunset, you will also time the arrival at the public campsite. The campsite is right in the central area of the Serengeti and looks breathtaking at all points of the day.

Today, we will completely immerse ourselves in the Serengeti region and enjoy every moment because we will not be making any long drives. The entire day is yours to enjoy the world-class wildlife ecosystem. Your guide will know where the wildlife has been and will try their best to take you to the best wildlife site. You can look for leopards in the Seronera River valley, visit the hippo pools, and watch the magnificent granite kopjes, where you might see lions surveying their hills. The entire day will allow you to see the changing patterns of the plains, from the busy hours filled with the action of active animal hunts to the still and quiet hours of the peaceful afternoon towards the glowing sunset. For lunch, you will enjoy a picnic in the bus,h and you will return to the campsite to indulge in a thrilling rest of the day.

Before you stop in at the last campsite of your journey, you will get the opportunity to go on one last drive in the Serengeti, an early morning game drive, and see some of the nocturnal hunters return to the plains around you as their prey becomes active after the night. After some more exploration, you will return to the campsite and have breakfast as your crew begins packing up the camp. After breakfast, you will have a chance to go on a game drive southeast towards the exit of the Serengeti, and on your ascent into the Ngorongoro highlands. As the hike begins, you will notice an intense change in scenery and altitude. Your stop will be the Simba campsite, which is on the edge of the Ngorongoro nest. You will be spending the night and will be able to enjoy some of the breathtaking scenery of the caldera. You will have an early descent the next morning.

Accommodation: Public Campsite on the Ngorongoro Crater Rim.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

With an early breakfast and an amazing view of the sunrise, you will descend 600 meters to the floor of the crater and spend the next 5 to 6 hours game driving. This site, belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage and a world wonder, is a natural amphitheater with an astounding amount of wildlife packed in. This is your best chance to see all of the 'Big Five' at one spot, as the floor of the crater has a good population of the critically endangered black rhino. You will drive and view the fascinating landscapes within the caldera, including a soda lake, open plains, and acacia woodlands, home to lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, and thousands of zebras and wildebeests. After picnicking at the Ngoitokitok Springs, you will climb to the top of the crater and go to a campsite located around Mto wa Mbu, where you will spend your last night of the trip.

Activities: 5-6 hour game drive on the Ngorongoro Crater floor.
Accommodation: Public Campsite in the Mto wa Mbu / Karatu area.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

After breakfast, you will have time to look back on your safari and enjoy the camp for the last time as the crew begins to dismantle it for storage. After this, you will begin your drive to Arusha and enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way. If you have time before your flight, you will have the opportunity to visit a nearby craft market. When you get to Arusha, your guide will either take you to the hotel for a rest or will take you to the airport for your flight.

Activities: Transfer back to Arusha.
