Day Trip
The moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you start your Tanzanian safari journey. A representative will take you and help you with your bags and get you a private transfer to your hotel in Arusha, where you will enjoy a warm welcome. Arusha, being the gateway to the Northern Circuit, is the ideal place to start your journey. Once you check in, a safari specialist will get you ready for the rest of the week. The detailed briefing will cover your 5-day itinerary, safety guidelines, and what to expect from each park and lodge. This way, you will be fully ready for the week ahead.
Activities: Airport transfer, comprehensive pre-safari briefing.
Accommodation: A comfortable midrange lodge in Arusha.
Meals: Dinner.
Your day will start with breakfast at the hotel as your driver-guide will pick you up on schedule. For the next couple of hours, you will halt for a few scenic stops as you cruise in the 4x4 Land Cruiser to the Tarangire National Park. The safari will start as soon as you cross the park gates with an exciting, non-stop, full-day game drive to the breathtaking landscapes. The famous Tarangire National Park, differentiated by the lifeline Tarangire River, is home to breathtaking old Baobab trees. The park is also home to exceptionally large herds of elephants. The sight of these gentle giants as they drink, bathe, and socialize is simply mesmerizing! After devouring a delicious packed lunch in a scenic sector of the park, you will enjoy more game driving until you return to your comfortable lodge for a hearty dinner and restful overnight stay.
Activities: Full-day game drive in Tarangire.
Accommodation: A comfortable midrange lodge or tented camp in the Karatu area.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
After having breakfast, you will get to experience the drive to the legendary Serengeti National Park. The drive will take you through the lush highlands of Karatu, which later descends into the open plains of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and we can optionally stop at a Maasai village. When you enter the park through the Naabi Hill Gate, the scenery changes to the Serengeti's famous endless plains. On the way to the central Seronera area, which is rich in wildlife, you will get to experience your first game drive of the trip. This area is called the "big cat capital of Africa" due to the high number of lions, leopards, and cheetahs. You will get to your tented camp, which is in proximity to the park, and get to enjoy the dinner that is served under the stars. This is served after you settle down in the camp.
Activities: Transit to Serengeti, optional Maasai Village visit, afternoon game drive.
Accommodation: A well-located midrange tented camp in the Central Serengeti (Seronera).
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Before the sun is about to rise, there is an early morning game drive scheduled for the Serengeti. During this particular time, it is possible to observe predators that are active while the morning air is still cool. During this drive is the best possible time to see a hunt in person, or to see the prey that is so cunningly disguised, before they retreat for the day. When this exhilarating experience is over, it is time to go back to the camp for a late breakfast. Then, you will be ready to start the long drive to the southeast while taking in the game driving scenery, on the Serengeti plains. The drive then leads you back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and after that, you will start to ascend to the rim of the stunning Ngorongoro Crater. The safari lodge where you will be staying is right on the edge of the crater, and after checking in, you will be able to enjoy the stunning and wide views of the caldera.
Activities: Morning game drive in the Serengeti, transit to Ngorongoro.
Accommodation: A midrange safari lodge perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
After breakfast with scenic views, you will descend into Ngorongoro Crater 600 meters down for 5-6 hour game drives. This location has been considered a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has a rich wildlife population, making it a perfect place to see the "Big Five." Crater floors with a soda lake flamingo, oceanic grasslands, and acacia forests will be the location for spotting endangered black rhinos, enormous lions, and buffalo herds. After you finish your picnic lunch, you will then experience ascending the Ngorongoro wall and riding back to Arusha. You will arrive at your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport in the evening time where your safari experience will end.
Activities: 5-6 hour game drive on the Ngorongoro Crater floor, transfer back to Arusha.
