Day Trip

When you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you start your Tanzanian safari adventure. A representative will meet you with a warm welcome, help you with your bags, and provide private transportation to your hotel in Arusha. Since it serves as the starting point for the Northern Circuit, Arusha is the most suitable location for the beginning of your journey. After checking in, you will have a meeting with your safari expert for a thorough safari briefing. In detail, covering the 8-day itinerary, this session will emphasize the Great Migration, safety, and the expectations of other parks and lodges

You will set out after enjoying breakfast as you will drive to the legendary ‘heart of the Serengeti’. This is one of the exhaustive travel days where you will cross Arusha’s Great Rift Valley to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping to indulge in a picnic lunch just before the Serengeti Park. As one of the premier wildlife destinations in the world, a game drive will be available immediately as you set foot on the plains. By the late hours of the afternoon, you will arrive at your tented camp in the Seronera area, which is right in the center of the park. This will allow you to rest before dinne,r which is provided by the tented camp.

There are lots of activities planned for today as you journey from Central Serengeti to the remote Kogatende area in the north. It's not just a transfer of points A to B; it's a daylong game drive in the center of the park. Herd movement indicates that as you get to Kogatende in the north, is where you start seeing the Koga Maginot Line. While you travel to the north part of the Kogatende, there are lots of chances that you will also start seeing the vanguard of the Great Migration. Your guide will use their expert knowledge and radio network to track the mega-herds. In the late afternoon of the second day, you will be in your tented camp, which is located close to the Mara River, ensuring that you get the best view for the following days.

Like the previous day, today is dedicated to observing the -life activities of the Mara River. Following an early breakfast, you will set off for a new day of adventure along the river, complete with a packed lunch. Your guide will try to locate the massive herds of wildebeests and zebras that congreg along the riverbanks. This day is meant to be slow and relaxing, as you wait for the herds to make their dangerous crossing. There is the possibility you will see an astonishing sight of thousands of animals entering the river, overcoming the powerful current and the terror of the Nile crocodiles. It is an extremely powerful and unforgettable display of nature and wildlife.

Keeping a second full day in the Kogatende area greatly improves the chances of witnessing multiple crossings. Natural events are never guaranteed, and this additional day allows for increased flexibility in exploring the numerous available crossing points or for spending additional time with a herd that is building in numbers. You can either spend another full day tracking the herds or shift your full attention to the area's vast ecosystem that includes resident wildlife such as large prides of lion, leopards, cheetahs, and elephants that are attracted to the area during the migration. These are some of Africa's most remote and wild regions, so this day should be fully devoted to capturing the essence of this raw wilderness.

You will pack your bags after the last breakfast of the trip and hit the road bright and early. The first part of the drive takes you across the Serengeti in search of the elusive big cats. From there, you will return to the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which you will cross to reach the Ngorongoro Crater. If you feel you need some exercise after a long drive, don't worry, the lodge's scenic surroundings will provide a breathtaking view, specifically in the Caldera! The nest to the lodge will allow you to gaze over the entire crater and relax before you tour the lodge to take some fun pictures during dinner time.

Accommodation: A midrange safari lodge perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Breakfast is served with a view (and very good food) before you start your game drive for 5-6 hours in the UNESCO heritage Ngorongoro Crater, which is 600 meters below the rest of the world. This is unlike any other conservatory due to the astonishing quantity of wildlife housed there. If you’re very lucky, you’ll be able to check all 5 of the Big 5 animals off your list. On the Crater floor, you’ll be in search of the black rhinoceros (critically endangered), lions, very large elephants, and enormous buffalo herds. After the midday picnic, you’ll continue your safari at a lodge around Karatu for the night.

Activities: 5-6 hour game drive on the Ngorongoro Crater floor.

You will have the option to relax and enjoy breakfast at the lodge as you reflect on your safari on the last morning. Then, you’ll enjoy the beautiful views as you drive back to Arusha. If there is time before your flight, you may get a chance to go to a local craft market. After, your guide will take you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your departure flight, and your safari will officially end.
