Day 1
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be met by staff from Active Kilitop and Safaris and transported to your hotel in Arusha (ILBoru Safari Lodge). Dinner at ILBoru Safari Lodge
Day 2
After breakfast at ILBoru Safari Lodge you will be picked up by Active Kilitop and Safaris’ crew in comfortable, well modified Land Cruisers. You are guaranteed a window seat to maximise your game viewing experience. Your safari begins with a drive to the Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Highlands. As Tanzania’s most famous national park, the Serengeti is home to large prides of lions, herds of elephant, giraffe, gazelles, monkeys, eland … a whole range of African wildlife, in awe-inspiring numbers. You may even be fortunate enough to witness the annual wildebeest migration where more than a million animals make the seasonal journey to fresh pasture. Lunch will be taken as a packed picnic ensuring uninterrupted game viewing until you reach the luxurious Serengeti Serena Lodge where you will be accommodated. Dinner at Serengeti Serena Lodge
Day 3
A full day game drive in the Serengeti awaits you. Your driver guide will select a perfect direction based on his extensive knowledge of the park and local conditions, but the Serengeti rarely disappoints. Your trip might include a trail along the banks of the Grumeti River in search of basking lions, cheetah tracking through the Gol Kopjies or hunting for leopard along the Seronera River. Once again lunch is served as a packed picnic to allow for an uninterrupted game viewing experience making the most of the full day in the Serengeti. Day 4
After breakfast you will be treated to a last game drive on your way out of the Serengeti towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The lodge will provide picnic lunches as you will be stopping to explore the world famous Olduvai Gorge. The gorge is a significant paleoanthropological site forming part of the East African Rift Valley, providing a wealth of fossilized remains and stone tools. It’s renowned for the discoveries made by palaeontologists Louis and Mary Leakey, including some of the earliest known hominin fossils such as those of Australopithecus and Homo habilis. Leaving the Olduvai Gorge you will head on to your accommodation for the night, Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Dinner at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
Day 5
The day’s game drive begins after breakfast at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. You will be descending into the Ngorongoro Crater, a world heritage site and home to nearly 25 000 animals. This unique caldera formed by a sinking volcano hosts a cross-section of ecosystems from soda lake to savanna and is home to almost every major species of African mammal. You will have a very real chance of spotting the Big Five. You will again enjoy a picnic lunch before exiting the crater and moving on to the small town of Karatu where you will overnight at Endoro Lodge. Dinner at Endoro Lodge
Day 6
Leaving Endoro Lodge after breakfast you’ll head back to Arusha and prepare to fly back home.
